Unite Co – CNC Sectioned Front Triangle
Unite are a fast paced business who produce aftermarket bicycle components fully manufactured in-house at their facility on the Welsh border. Their current product range consists of a large variety of components with exciting finishes and customisation options. Unite are also a highly conscious company when it comes to their carbon footprint and actively look to improve their processes and supply chain for the good of the environment. Unite’s latest venture is the development of a fully CNC manufactured long travel enduro mountain bike.
We collaborated with Unite to design an aluminium front triangle for their newly developed mountain bike frame. The front triangle was designed to be manufactured from fully CNC machined components that could all be produced with their current in-house capabilities and machinery. The innovative design uses sectioned billet components and profiled tubing that is machined from readily available tubular stock sizes. The frame is then assembled using a series of sleeved lap joints which are then seam welded and post machined to achieve a smooth flowing aesthetic, similar to that of a carbon fibre frame design. The end product is a novel frame that can be fully manufactured in house using locally sourced materials and machined within a small cost effective machining centre.
