KIR Specialists- Motocross Camera Frame
KIR Specialists are an auto tuning company specialising in the design, development and manufacture of bespoke vehicles for operation within the expert film industry. Their clients include Hollywood production companies such as Universal and Paramount pictures, having worked on some of the largest action film franchises within the industry.
We collaborated with KIR to design a bespoke titanium frame structure used to mount high end camera systems to a Suzuki RM-Z450 off road motorcycle. The aim of the project was to create a rigid lightweight frame design that incorporated a universal 80mm camera post at the front and rear of the bike. The frame was designed with a trellis style structure that hugged the contours of the motorcycle, allowing for maximum rider manoeuvrability and the ability to keep the front mudguard system. The design was iteratively developed within FEA to provide the optimum balance between strength, stiffness and weight. The design includes detachable mounting plates, CNC titanium yoke sections for increased rigidity and integrated polybushes to reduce vibration resonance between the motorcycle and the camera.
