Radical AM - Steel Mountain Bike Frame

Radical All Mountain is a boutique bicycle start-up company based in the UK. Their current product range focuses on aggressive hardtail mountain bike frames that are fully manufactured in the UK from Reynolds steel tubing. Radical take great pride in their product and the service that they offer, providing small batch production frames that are sold and ridden globally. We work closely with Radical as a product development partner to extend their capabilities with our expert design and engineering services.

We supported Radical with a range of our design and engineering services for the development of their Chilli Dog 290 frames. Their move to manufacture their products fully in the UK required expertise in DFM and the ability to effectively communicate the design for efficient production. We created detailed 3D CAD assembly models of the product range, along with the design of a fully bespoke twin yoke component to provide tyre clearance and increase the lateral stiffness of the chainstays. Manufacturing drawings packs were created for the various frame sizes along with a portfolio of photorealistic renders to use within their website and marketing. The structural design of the frame was proven within FEA prior to physical testing with the results detailed in a technical report.
